THE PEONY’S STORY
The peony is soaked through and weighed down by fresh-fallen rain, a burden laid upon her, beautiful and heavy at once. Then the sun breaks back across the petals, and her light seems to come from inside rather than above. I named her for Caravaggio because this is exactly how he painted: a single source of light, deep shadow, an ordinary subject rendered with reverence and weight. The peony is not soft. Burdened and luminous, she isn't performing strength. She's bearing her truth, all the more beautiful because of it. She grants you permission to do the same — to carry what you've weathered and thrive beyond it. To take up more space, not less, because real strength needs room to move.
ROOM SUGGESTION
A living room or entryway as a statement piece, ideally at a larger scale — she is built to command, not to coordinate.
FINISHES & SIZING
This piece comes in three curated sizes and three museum-quality finishes. Metal is my signature recommendation — it holds the depth, light, and dimensional clarity of the original encounter. Acrylic pushes further into luminous, high-impact territory for a true statement piece. And pearl finish photo paper adds a soft, pearlescent shimmer unique among archival papers — beautiful framed under glass.
