STORY OF THE ORCA
This orca launches from the water as if gravity lost its ever-loving mind. She is weightless, suspended, eye to the sky. You can feel the draw of it — the bright world above, a more curious place than the deep she knows by heart. No one agrees on why orcas breach, and I love the open question — but watch the oldest females take flight, and you start to wonder if it’s joy. In every pod, the eldest female leads with her decades of memory: where the fish run, where the tides turn, how to navigate through winter. She is the map her whole family swims by. So when she breaches, it isn’t merely a show of power. The one who carries everyone, for a single breath, is carried herself — by wonder, by the sky, by something lighter than even air. The ones who hold everyone up need that breath the most. Weighed down by her own body and all she carries, still she flies.
ROOM SUGGESTION
A large wall in a living room above the sofa or in a lobby — a statement piece built to take your breath at scale.
FINISHES & SIZING
This piece comes in three curated sizes and three museum-quality finishes. Metal is my signature recommendation — it holds the depth, light, and dimensional clarity of the original encounter. Acrylic pushes further into luminous, high-impact territory for a true statement piece. And pearl finish photo paper adds a soft, pearlescent shimmer unique among archival papers — beautiful framed under glass.
