THIS BROWN BEAR’S STORY
This young male brown bear hunkers down in sedge grass. It shrouds nearly all of him — but for an eye, an ear, and a slice of snout. Sedges are a bear’s spring staple, packed with protein when little else has greened up. So, he sits in his own pantry beside Cook Inlet, Alaska, snacking as he plots a surprising pounce upon his unsuspecting playmate.
That’s the wit of this image: an enormous animal playing at invisibility, equal parts menace and mischief. It rewards the second look. You hang it, and weeks later a guest spots the eye in the grass and startles — exactly as this boy bear intended.
ROOM SUGGESTION
A den, library, or hallway where someone passes close . The hidden-eye of surprise gives a unique perspective on a much loved subject — the Alaskan brown bear.
FINISHES & SIZING
This piece comes in three curated sizes and three museum-quality finishes. Metal is my signature recommendation — it holds the depth, light, and dimensional clarity of the original encounter. Acrylic pushes further into luminous, high-impact territory for a true statement piece. And pearl finish photo paper adds a soft, pearlescent shimmer unique among archival papers — beautiful framed under glass.
