THE QUEEN’S STORY
This bear did the sensible thing on a hot day in Southeast Alaska — she lowered herself into the glacier-fed water of Chilkoot Lake and let it carry off the heat. Aware of me on the high shore above, she is entirely without a care. See her claws glowing underwater? Each one is as long as a human finger. When you’re built like that, being watched costs you nothing. But the Queen of the Chilkoot never did mind an audience. For 14 years, she reigned over the lake, river, and inlet that share her name, entertaining visitors from all over the world.
An animal takes what it needs, regardless of who’s watching. Sink in. Cool off. Do it in plain sight. Comfort isn’t something you have to earn, defend, or hide.
ROOM SUGGESTION
A bathroom, primary suite, or any wellness space where rest and relief are the point. The Queen makes “cooling off” a whole mood.
FINISHES & SIZING
This piece comes in three curated sizes and three museum-quality finishes. Metal is my signature recommendation — it holds the depth, light, and dimensional clarity of the original encounter. Acrylic pushes further into luminous, high-impact territory for a true statement piece. And pearl finish photo paper adds a soft, pearlescent shimmer unique among archival papers — beautiful framed under glass.
